This message was emphasized during the Rank Promotion and Yellow Belt Awarding Ceremony for the Military Pencak Silat (PSM) Special Branch of Korem 083/Bdj for Fiscal Year 2026, led by Korem 083/Bdj Chief of Staff Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Rahmat Cahyo Dinarso, S.Hub.Int., M.M., at the Korem 083/Bdj Headquarters on Wednesday (August 26, 2026).
In the remarks of the Commander of Korem 083/Bdj, delivered by the Chief of Staff, it was emphasized that PSM is part of shaping soldiers’ character, including mental resilience, discipline, courage, composure, and readiness to face challenges and threats while carrying out their duties. Therefore, martial arts skills must be used appropriately and responsibly.
The Commander expressed his appreciation to the 100 participants who had completed the training process with dedication, perseverance, and determination. The awarding of the yellow belt was emphasized as not being the end, but rather the beginning of greater responsibility.
“The higher the rank, the greater the responsibility, discipline, and maturity you must demonstrate,” he said.
“A great soldier is not the one who is strongest in using force, but the one who can control himself and use his abilities in a measured, precise, and responsible manner,” the Commander stated.
He also emphasized the importance of physical training, mastery of techniques, mental discipline, and personal readiness through the principle: “It is better to sweat in training than to bleed on the battlefield.”
The Commander also expressed his appreciation to the PSM instructors and organizing committee for their hard work in conducting the rank promotion examination. Continuous training and development are expected to shape Korem 083/Bdj personnel into increasingly professional, resilient, skilled, and mission-ready soldiers.
